Blepharoplasty

Facial aesthetic eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty performed by Dr. Pedro Terán and Dr. Francesca Zavalloni's plastic surgery clinic in Burgos, consists in repairing a destroyed or deformed eyelid due to a scar.

Eyelid surgery is a rejuvenating surgery that rearranges the excess skin and fat located around the eyes, which we call 'bags'.

The excess skin of the upper eyelid, in addition to giving an aged appearance, can cause eye fatigue and the need to raise the eyebrows increases wrinkles in the forehead.

In the lower eyelid, the bulging of this area produces wrinkles and flaccidity in the muscle, giving a tired appearance.

This problem not only occurs in older people but also in young people giving the impression of age and exhaustion.

Through blepharoplasty the surgeon removes excess fat and relocates the sagging skin. The incisions are made with great precision so that they are imperceptible; the incisions are made following the natural lines of the eyelids, in the creases of the upper eyelids and below the eyelashes in the lower eyelids. After making these incisions the surgeon separates the skin from the fatty tissue and muscle, removes the fat, removes the excess skin and closes with very fine sutures.

Eyelid surgery is performed in an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia.

After the operation, which usually lasts about an hour and a half, an ophthalmic ointment and dressings with very cold saline are applied to reduce discomfort and swelling. However, it is normal for swelling and bruising of the eyelids to persist during the first week. Most patients will be able to resume normal life in about 10-12 days.
